How to measure the alcove

Depth first. Measure wall-to-walkway. Leave room for a chair pushed in (~24–30″ more behind the desk if you sit). A 30-inch top in a 36-inch nook leaves no chair.
Width of the frame, not just the top. E7 Mini’s 29.9–36.1″ frame is the closet option. UPLIFT V3’s 41.3″ minimum frame will not hide in a 36-inch wardrobe.
Sit height. Core’s 29.4″ minimum with top is high for many people under 5′6″. E7 Mini and UPLIFT V3 published ranges start in the low-20s without/with typical tops.
Box path. E7 Mini package is listed 37.4 × 9.8 × 8.5 inches, 71.87 lb shipping. Autonomous Core ships 50 × 26.4 × 6.5 inches, 61.7 lb. Walk that rectangle up your stairs before you click.
Floor. Leveling glides on carpet compress. Casters add listed height (UPLIFT standard casters +1.5″, soft-roll +2.5″, heavy-duty +4.7″). Recheck max standing height if you add wheels.

Noise, in apartment English

dB figures below are brand ratings. Microphone distance, load, and room echo change what you hear. A desk is noisy for a few seconds per move, not all day.

Stability without fake wobble scores

We did not measure deflection. What you can use:

Motors: Dual-motor legs (E7 Mini, E7, V3, Jarvis, Desk Pro) lift each side; single-motor (EC1, EC9, Desk Core) is the budget pattern.
Stages: Three-stage columns overlap more at standing height than two-stage. Jarvis sells 2-stage, 3-stage, and 3-stage low. E7 Mini height range matches E7’s 22.8–48.4″ without top on FlexiSpot’s comparison table.
Feet vs depth: UPLIFT sells short feet for 24-inch tops. Putting a 30-inch-deep habit (monitor arm far back) on a 24-inch top is how people create wobble they then blame on the brand.
Load: Stay well under the published number after you add the top. EC9’s 110 lb is a laptop-and-one-monitor desk, not a PC tower plus dual 32s.

Who should skip a full desk

If the furniture is staying and you only need to stand some hours, a converter can be smaller to store — but it still needs desk depth.
